The Step By Step Process Of Stamping Concrete
1. Adding The Base Colour: The base colour is the main aspect applied to create stamped concrete surfaces.
It is selected to reflect the shade of the natural building material we are trying to mimic. It’s made by adding a colour hardener to the stamp concrete surface, which comes as a powder pigment mixed to create Coloured Concrete.
Colour hardeners may be applied by utilizing 1 of 2 procedures; integral colour or cast-on. Integral is the process where the whole slab of concrete is given the base shade entirely. The whole slab of concrete is coloured by pouring the hardening substance into the concrete stamps truck, and making all the concrete being mixed in the truck get dyed the same colour. Cast-on is the process by which the stamp concrete surface is dyed the base shade. The surface of the Stamped Concrete is coloured by distributing the color hardener onto the top layer of the fresh concrete and seeding the powder into the main lateral surface of the freshly laid concrete slab.
Concrete stamps may be coloured in various methods; by using hardeners, integral liquids or powdered colours, acid stains and many more. The technique of integrally colouring the stamped concrete gives the benefit of the whole slab becoming coloured concrete; although, the surface strength will not get higher with the use of colour hardening solution. There is also dry shake colour hardener which is another great way to change the tone of the concrete stamps.
They spread the hardener on the concrete as quickly as it’s floated for the initial step. After allowing the bleed water to soak into the hardening solution where they float and begin using the trowel to put it in. This technique only works approximately 3/16 of an inch of the surface and it provides the concrete surface more durability.
2. Accent Colour Adding To Enhance The Effect Of Concrete Stamping
The accent colour is the minor shade applied during the stamp concrete process. This is applied to create some texture and display additional building materials like grout or stone aggregates in the stamped concrete. This accent is created by applying colour release to the concrete surface. Release substances have 2 purposes; Colour release is a dye utilized to tone the concrete and the colour release compound is a non-adhesive utilized to stop the concrete stamps from adhering to the concrete stamping and getting stuck on its surface.
The colour release compound may be applied in 1 of 2 processes based on the 2 forms it is produced in which is a powdered or cast-on colour release composed of calcium-releasing powders which are water resistant; or liquid – that is a light aromatic-based solvent solution, Spray-On Concrete and Coloured Stamped Concrete compound. The cast-on release stage is a process wherein the powder release is used by distributing the colour release on the top layer of the stamp concrete prior to the concrete getting stamped. The spray-on colour release is a step where liquid shade release is distributed on the bottom of the concrete stamps prior to the stamping.
